Like transitions, however, pointing words need to be used carefully. It's dangerously easy to insert pointing words into your text that don't refer to a clearly defined object, assuming that because the object you have in mind is clear to you it will also be clear to your readers. For example, consider the use of "this" in the following passage.

Informal

People have to be careful point words because it is very easy to make people misunderstand what you want to represent. Since you know what you are talking about, but other people do not have ideas on it. There is a example following and people have to think about the use of "this".

Formal

It is very important to know that people are easily having another meanings in their minds when authors use pronoun. Pronoun always make people confuse on what objects are and people cannot understand literary quickly and effectively. Read the following passage and see how "this" are used.

Both

It is important for people to be careful when they use pronoun to represent objects. Since anyone can understand pronoun in another meaning and representation. For instance, there is a passage showing the use of "this".
